Shaare Zedek opened over 105 years ago as a 20-bed hospital on Jerusalem's Jaffa Road. Even then it was considered ahead of its time and quickly became renowned for its unique blend of superior medical treatment and specialist care.

Today Shaare Zedek is one of the busiest hospitals in the world. From twenty births each month in 1902 we now have over 1000 every month; 460 patients hospitalised at Shaare Zedek in the first year have become more than 60,000! We employ nearly 400 physicians, over 900 nurses and over 200 paramedics.

A growing need

The number of patients who turn to Shaare Zedek in their time of need continues to increase. In addition to natural growth, our population has grown as a result of waves of immigration over the years. As the numbers of our patients increase so too does our need for donations -- particularly gifts left to us in Wills.

Nowhere else to turn to

We do not receive any government funding for development, new equipment or research and so depend on the kindness and foresight of people like you to help us continue making a difference in people's lives.
